At Yaffa Wigs Manhattan, we specialize in medical wigs near Lenox Hill Hospital and the surrounding Upper East Side. If you or someone you love is facing hair loss from chemotherapy, radiation, alopecia, or another medical condition, finding the right wig shouldn't add stress to an already difficult time. We've had the privilege of helping many women who come to us directly from nearby hospitals — and we've built our salon experience around making that visit feel calm, private, and genuinely supportive.

Just Minutes from Manhattan's Leading Hospitals

Our salon at 61 E 66th Street sits in the heart of the Upper East Side's medical corridor. We're a short walk or quick ride from:

    • Lenox Hill Hospital (77th & Lexington) — about 10 minutes away
    • Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (67th & York)
    • NewYork-Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medical Center (68th & York)
    • Hospital for Special Surgery

Many of our clients schedule a consultation before a treatment appointment, or stop by afterward when they're already in the neighborhood. If you're traveling into the city for care, you don't need to make a separate trip — we're right here.

What to Expect at Your Private Consultation

We know walking into a wig salon for the first time can feel overwhelming. That's why every medical consultation at Yaffa Wigs Manhattan is private and one-on-one. There's no showroom crowd, no pressure, and no rush.

During your visit, we'll talk about your natural hair — its color, texture, length, and how you like to wear it — so your wig looks like you, not like a wig. We work exclusively with 100% European human hair, custom-fitted to your head for all-day comfort, which matters especially if your scalp is sensitive during treatment.

A helpful tip: if you know hair loss is coming, visiting us before treatment begins lets us match your natural hair exactly. But if you're already mid-treatment, don't worry — we work from photos and your description all the time, and the results are just as beautiful.

Your Wig May Be Covered by Insurance

Many people don't know this: when hair loss is caused by a medical condition or treatment, a wig is often classified as a cranial prosthesis — and many insurance plans offer partial or full reimbursement with a doctor's prescription.

Ask your physician to write a prescription for a "cranial prosthesis" (not a "wig"), and we'll provide the detailed receipt you'll need to submit to your insurance company. Coverage varies by plan, so check with your provider — but it's always worth asking.

You Deserve to Feel Like Yourself

Hair loss can feel like losing a piece of your identity. Our clients often tell us that the moment they saw themselves in the mirror with their new wig, something shifted — they felt like themselves again.

"Yaffa's place changed my life. I was traumatized having to wear a wig, and now, even as my hair came back fully, I bought two more." — Michal H.

Whether you're preparing for treatment, in the middle of it, or supporting someone who is, we're here whenever you're ready.
